Representational Drawing
Representational drawing from life is the basis for all artistic work, whether technical drawings, still lifes or other subjects. Objects can only be accurately reproduced if you are confident in your drawing skills, estimating proportions, and can depict plasticity through light and shadow.
In this course, participants learn the essential basics of drawing from observation. We start with basic forms, learning to assess proportions and positions in space and on the page. Various still lifes are explored to introduce aspects of contrast, perspective, and texture. The influence of light plays an important role here, and its effect on the subjects is closely examined and explained. Methods for the effective representation of light and shadow are identified. Both man-made objects and naturally formed objects such as bones and plants will be explored through drawing. We will practice reducing complex objects to their essence in order to structure and simplify their representation.
At the end of the course, you will be able to draw any collection of objects, whether small or large. The acquired skills can be used in advanced courses such as “Spatial Drawing/Perspective” and “Figure in Space.”
Material: a sketchbook, 20 sheets of paper size DIN A3 and A2 or equivalent, soft and medium-hard pencils (HB-B6), white eraser, kneaded eraser, sharpener, natural charcoal or charcoal pencils if available

Cancellation: The cancellation of a course registration must be made in writing. If the cancellation is received up to 15 days before the start of the course, you will be refunded the course fee minus the deposit paid. If you cancel from the 14th day before the start of the course or if you do not show up, no refund of the course fee is possible.
The decisive time for the cancellation is the date of receipt. Alternatively, it is always possible to organize a substitute participant. All details are in our General terms and conditions.
