Urban Sketching

Capture the atmosphere of a summer day in a sketch — a street corner, houses, trees, people or a cappuccino in a café. Urban sketching is about getting the environment spontaneously and directly onto paper. The technology is simple: pencil, fineliner and, if desired, a little color are all you need. Let the pen flow and soak in the surrounding area.

On the first evening, we meet in the studio. There, we try out materials and techniques using photo templates and discuss basics such as perspective and choice of subject. On the following dates, we will be drawing outside at various locations (to be determined). Please bring some money for a drink in the café.

During the course, you will discover further design options such as deliberate omissions, composition and the use of light and color.

4 dates: Thursdays, June 11/18/25 and July 2, 2026, 5 - 7 pm

For beginners and advanced users, no previous experience is required. Number of participants max. 12

Material: Sketchpad (approx. A4), pencil (HB or 0.7 mm mechanical pencil), eraser, waterproof fine-liner
Optional according to your preference: colored or colored pencils, small watercolor box and water tank brush.
