Sculpt a Portrait
In this portrait sculpting course, in addition to the proportions and their individual deviations, we will also cover the anatomical principles of the head and neck, possible degrees and the corresponding construction and presentation options.
We work according to models in an approximation to natural size. If you want, you can also work from your own photo templates (please announce in advance!). The goal is to create a resemblance to the model while creating a mold or hollow shape suitable for casting or firing.

Material:
For an initial proportion study: drawing pad and pens for notes
Construction:
old newspaper, masking tape,
modelling tools and cutting wire (can be borrowed).
armature stands can be borrowed (for further sculpting at home, for a deposit).
clay: Depending on the size of the object, 1-2 proportions of modelling clay, e.g. school modelling clay (not potters clay)
With 25% fireclay, 0-0.5 mm grit or can be purchased at Akthof
(10kg of material approx. 15, - €).
packaging: A large piece of fabric, 1 trash bag and two large, sturdy plastic bags
If you want to take your work home on Sunday evening, please bring a transport box/large bag and soft packaging materials. Post-processing (last details/hollowing out) is also possible in Akthof afterwards.
photos: If you want to work from your own photo template, please make sure to print out both profile views, the front view, the back view and two slightly varying half-profile views.
Akthof Course Booking
You can sign up for our courses here. Simply select the appropriate course from the form.
You will receive confirmation of your registration from us and your place in the course will be reserved for you and is binding. Courses priced above 25€ require a minimum prepayment of 25€. Your place in the course is only guaranteed after receipt of payment. If the course is already fully booked, we will inform you.
Cancellation: The cancellation of a course registration must be made in writing. If the cancellation is received up to 15 days before the start of the course, you will be refunded the course fee minus the deposit paid. If you cancel from the 14th day before the start of the course or if you do not show up, no refund of the course fee is possible.
The decisive time for the cancellation is the date of receipt. Alternatively, it is always possible to organize a substitute participant. All details are in our General terms and conditions.
