Introduction to Oil
This course is dedicated to the fascinating world of oil painting with a particular focus on the alla prima technique. The aim is to learn the basics of color mixing and direct paint application in order to enable expressive and dynamic painting.
Course content:
Alla Prima painting is a technique in which colors are applied directly and precisely adjusted by painting over them again. This always involves working wet-on-wet, which requires quick decisions when mixing and applying paint.
The course places particular emphasis on:
• color mixing and direct color determination on the palette,
• opaque paint application, which can be adjusted again and again
• the targeted use of brush stroke and paint application techniques.
Working method: You work from examples that are gradually increased in difficulty. The technique of modern Alla Prima painting is analysed and practiced in detail. In this way, you will not only learn how to use colors and brushes, but also the style and dynamics of this expressive painting style.
Requirements: The course is ideal for anyone who wants to learn and deepen the direct use of paint in oil painting.
Dates:
3 x Wednesday: 12/19/26 November 2025
Material:
• An oil paint set with at least 12 colors
• A large tube of white, one tube each of magenta, chrome oxide green dark and chrome oxide yellow,
• A brush set with medium brush thicknesses (sizes 6, 7, 8, 9, 10),
• An oil painting pad (approx. 30 x 40 cm).

Cancellation: The cancellation of a course registration must be made in writing. If the cancellation is received up to 15 days before the start of the course, you will be refunded the course fee minus the deposit paid. If you cancel from the 14th day before the start of the course or if you do not show up, no refund of the course fee is possible.
The decisive time for the cancellation is the date of receipt. Alternatively, it is always possible to organize a substitute participant. All details are in our General terms and conditions.
