Composition Studies -Alte Pinakothek
Munich is lucky to have three magnificent art museums in the immediate vicinity of the Akthof. The “Alte Pinakothek” in particular is rightfully world-famous and offers a wealth of inspiration for aspiring artists. Led by Michael Wörle, the group takes a tour of the permanent exhibition and develops an approach to the visual language of painting. The focus is on the principles of classical composition, color design and the respective painting techniques.
Together, we analyse the painting technique of selected masterpieces directly in front of the original and take a close look at their details. It is not only about studying image structure, perspective and lighting, but also about how images “communicate” and tell a story. To complement the overall context, lecturer and freelance painter Michael Wörle also contributes historical background information and anecdotes, from an artist's perspective.
Through targeted observation and trained attention, principles can be identified that serve to enrich and inspire one's own artistic work. These exercises help to understand the “visual direction” of old and new masters and to transfer it into one's own creative practice. A unique, fascinating and entertaining insight into the secrets of great artists and their masterpieces
Anyone interested is welcome.
