In detail: eye, nose, mouth & ear
When we approach a portrait or the face in a figure drawing, the connections between the elements first play an important role. They are often similar faces because we are relying on a kind of “prototype” of the eye, etc. Here it is necessary to take a closer look in order to capture what is typical of the respective position, of the respective individual.
What I would like to teach in this course are some of the anatomical principles of the skull as well as the structure and shape of the eye, nose, mouth and ear. I will show structural relationships and changes in form that can be observed when perspective is distorted. For a clearer understanding, we will also reconstruct them. The eye ball, the form of the nose, the convolutions of the ear cartilage are practiced, the ear is integrated under the hair.
In the details, we capture the individual, even if, like a cartoonist, we deliberately ignore proportions (this can also be practiced here).
We work constructively, according to templates and sometimes according to models.
